(a) Image of focused beam at the sample position at 13.5 keV. Actual beam size was measured with a knife-edge scan using the downstream slits in the BCU (350 mm upstream of the sample position) after optimizing the focusing at the slit position resulting in measured FWHM size of 22 µm × 4 µm (horizontal × vertical). Ray tracing in combination with thermoelastic finite-element analysis using MASH (Sondhauss, 2014BB36) predicted a focus size of 20 µm × 3 µm. (b) Image of the defocused beam.
