The heat load changes in both magnitude and shape depending on the undulator deflection parameter K and the polarization mode. Between K = 1 [panels (a and (b)] and 3 [panels (c) and (d)] the peak power density ranges from 0.2 to 1 W mm−2, while the orientation of the power distribution rotates by 90° between linear horizontal [panels (a) and (c)] and vertical [panels (b) and (d)] polarization modes. Note the different axes scales. These heat loads were calculated using the SPECTRA code and account for the absorption spectrum of the mirror coating and grazing angle (Tanaka & Kitamura, 2001). |
