Red rectangles and squares are sensor pixels, black squares are readout module pixels, black circles are the bonding locations between the sensor and readout module pixels, and the cross-hatched blue squares in (a) represent the gaps between tiled PAD readout modules. The XSPA-500k uses the scheme illustrated in (b) to seamlessly span the gap regions between readout modules with (square) pixel sizes that are independent of position on the sensor.
