Inclined geometry where the object, detector and, therefore, (x,y) coordinate system has been rotated by α anticlockwise with respect to the (x1,y1) coordinate system about the optical axis z. While the analyser crystal is still only sensitive to the phase variations in the x1 direction in the (x1,y1) coordinate system, it is sensitive to both the x and y components of the gradient of phase. This allows a 2-D phase gradient to be reconstructed from comparison of the two projections and as they provide unique information in the inclined geometry setup. |
