O 1s and V 2p core-level spectra for the 3% V2O5/anatase-TiO2–5% SiO2 catalyst under UHV conditions, during exposure to 1 mbar of air and after evacuation. The spectra are normalized with the V 2p3/2 area. The inset shows the shift of about 2 eV when exposed to air in the first momentum of the V 2p3/2 core level.
