The position of the source S is in the focal point of the diaboloid's generating parabola (the cyan line); F denotes the focus point for the central ray (the red lines). The conjugate (beamline optical design) parameters of the diaboloidal mirror (the thick blue line) are the object distance (from S to P0), p, the image distance (from P0 to F), q, and the angle of incidence for the central ray at the centre of the mirror, θ.
