Each frame shows a close-up view of four neighbouring PeAF cation and anion pairs where the atoms are represented by colour-coded spheres: carbon in cyan, hydrogen in white, oxygen in red and nitrogen in blue. It indicates how the system quickly turns into a plasma and explodes as a function of time due to the XFEL pulse.
