Simulated comparison of the ToF resolution versus retardation for a spectrometer with the optimized compound lens configuration. The individual traces are referenced such that t = 0 is shortly prior to the arrival of electrons with post-retardation energy of 100 eV. These are followed by a series of subsequently lower energy (later arrival) peaks with Gaussian distributions of σ = 0.0625 eV separated by 0.25 eV.
