CRL transfocator at LiX. The lenses are organized into nine lens holders. Each holder (A) can be moved into or out of the beam using a bistable solenoid (B) and guided by a linear rail (C). In the `in' position, the lenses are pushed by the finger spring (copper-colored) installed in the holder against, and therefore aligned by, a Vee block (D). The transfocator is supported on either end by a stack of x–y stages via kinematic mounts (E). The inset is a photograph of the components in the transfocator. |
