In panel (b) the broken line describes the jet velocity prediction formula vjet = a + b × (Qg/Dg2)1/2/(Ql)1/4, where the constants have the numerical values a = 8.35 and b = 1022 if Qg is given in mg min−1, Dg in µm, Ql in µl min−1 and vjet in m s−1. (c) The corresponding jet diameters are calculated via djet = [4Ql/(πv)]1/2.
