Red blood cells (RBCs) in NaCl solution (cNaCl = 9 g L−1; central inlet) are flow focused by two streams of the same salt solution without cells (side inlets). The focused X-ray beam probes the RBC stream in the quartz glass capillary (inner diameter 180 µm) and the signal is recorded by a 2D pixel detector.
