Each splitter diffracts a single beamlet (b1, b2, b3) out of the direct beam at an angle equal to twice the Bragg angle (2θB1 for the first splitter). The type, position and orientation of the beam-splitters are chosen such that the beamlets converge to a point where the sample object is placed O at a distance D from the direct beam. (b) A single beam-splitter s is oriented in the direct beam to excite multiple Bragg diffractions producing several beamlets (4 in the example b1, b2, b3, b4). The beamlets are diffracted by recombiner crystals (r1, r2, r3, r4) towards a common point O on the direct beam path where the sample object is placed. |
