The retrieved dark-field images shown in Fig. 3[link] (with the same labelling of panels) with a ten-pixel standard deviation Gaussian filter applied. The approaches used to retrieve each of the images were: (a) dual-energy propagation-based, (b) single-grid, (c) single-speckle and (d) multi-speckle. The white rectangle in panel (a) denotes the 1 mm scale bar for all images. The grayscale ranges for the images are [min (black), max (white)]: (a) = [0.0, 9.7] × 10−11, (b) = [0.0, 9.1] × 10−11, (c) = [0.0, 4.7] × 10−11 and (d) = [0.0, 4.0] × 10−11.
