The crystal packing in (II)[link]. The polar, charged and hydro­philic entities, interconnected into hydrogen-bonded layers, are centered at x = 0 and x = 1. A lipophilic surface centered around x = [1\over2] characterizes the inter­face between neighboring layers. H atoms have been omitted. The chloride ions and the water mol­ecules are indicated by small spheres, the former being crossed.
