On the left is shown a packing plot of the structure along c. The box signifies the section of the bounded projection along b (a single layer of counter-ions and one Cu–I sheet) shown on the right. For clarity in this projection, the Cu–I network has been cut away around the only counter-ion shown. The atoms are shown as displacement ellipsoids at the 50% probability level.
