Electron micrograph of a COS-7 cell. COS-7 cells were fixed with glutaraldehyde and OsO4 successively, and embedded in epon. Ultra-thin sections were cut and doubly stained with uranyl acetate and lead citrate. Numerous MVBs (arrowheads) containing internal vesicles of 40–50 nm diameter can be seen. N: nucleus; M: mitochondria; G: Golgi apparatus. Bar: 1 µm.
