A kinetic scheme for the stepwise reduction and disassembly of the Mn complex in response to a temperature jump. The rate constants as determined by the joint analysis of nine time courses {six coordination numbers, Ni(t); activity, R(t); amount of Mn(H2O)62+, [Mn2+](t); X-ray edge position, EEDGE(t)} are k1 = 1 min−1, k2 = 0.18 min−1 and k3 = 0.014 min−1 (Pospisil et al., 2001BB41, 2002BB42).
