Superstructure of the gantry system that supports the CCD detector. The detector face can be positioned 7–100 cm from the sample, and the 2θ angle can be varied between −5 and 45°. The three degrees of freedom are accomplished using the two translation devices shown, with a rotation follower pivoted about the sample rotation axis that constrains the detector face to point at the sample. The entire structure is enclosed in a steel box that comprises the mini-hutch.
