Layout of a single lens. The lens is a plate of thickness l where on both sides parabolic-like grooves are defined. The shape of the grooves is described by a general conical curve with equations in the coordination system centred at its vertex (XvYv), as shown in the figure. The curve is parameterized by the radius of curvature at vertex p and eccentricity e. The physical aperture of the lens H, and the thickness between vertexes d, are also shown.
