Schematic set-up of the micro X-ray velocimetry configuration. The X-ray beam (purple) penetrates the sample (common carotid artery mounted in the tissue bath) and interacts with the scintillator to produce visible light (green). An objective lens is used to magnify and focus the visible light from the scintillator onto the sensor of the camera. A mirror is used to remove the camera from the X-ray path. For reference, the X-ray beam size is 0.8 mm high × 1.8 mm wide.
