Sketches of Friedel pairs for different rotation axes. (a) The rotation axis is perpendicular to the incident direction. The diffraction spot and its pair appearing at ω and ω + 180° correspond to the angle between the normal vector of the (hkl) lattice plane and the negative of the incident direction being equal to 90° − θ and 90° + θ, respectively. (b) The pair of the diffraction spots appearing at ω do not appear at ω + 180° when the rotation axis is inclined.
