Histograms of major-to-minor axis length ratio for orthogonal and tilted detectors. Most Debye–Scherrer rings in orthogonal detectors are close to circular and therefore the mode of their axis-length ratios is close to 1. Tilted detectors have a larger ratio since the rings produced are more elliptical. This difference can be used to classify the type of the detector.
