The completed instrument without the covering shell. All parts near the observation stage and laser module are matte black to eliminate any errant light. The blue area shows the entire optical stack, including the connector which attaches it to the printer. The pink area shows the laser module attached to the platform on the optics–printer connector. The yellow area shows the observation stage with a test plate secured in the plate holder. The arrows on the right show the direction of positive movement along each of the axes of the Panowin F1. The x axis and z axis are directly attached to one another and control the position of the optical stack. The y axis controls the position of the observation stage.
