Optical micrograph of the de novo-designed protein crystals grown by sitting-drop vapor diffusion at 20°C. The crystals reached dimensions of up to 300 µm within a week. The octahedral shapes visible here reflect the reproducible crystallization conditions, which provided samples suitable for X-ray diffraction experiments.
