Comparison of simulated and theoretically predicted transmission spectra (solid black lines) for 8 mm thick Al, Be, Cu and Ni across simulation Cases 1, 2 and 3. The results indicate that the sample-to-detector distances of 50 cm, 5 cm and 2 cm are sufficient to mitigate forward-scattering artefacts in Cases 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
