Figure 14
Comparison of simulated and theoretically predicted transmission spectra (solid black lines) for 8 mm thick Al2O3, ZrO2, polylactide (C3H4O2) and polyvinylchloride (PVC; C2H3Cl) across simulation Cases 1, 2 and 3. The results indicate that the sample-to-detector distances of 50 cm, 5 cm and 2 cm are sufficient to mitigate forward-scattering artefacts in Cases 1, 2 and 3 for Al2O3 and ZrO2. However, polylactide and PVC necessitate larger sample-to-detector distances of 150 cm, 15 cm and 5 cm for the three cases, respectively.
