Scheme of an X-ray diffraction tomography setup where the sample can be translated and rotated in front of a pencil beam. The Debye–Scherrer rings formed by the diffraction of crystallites are collected by an area detector, integrated into a powder diffraction pattern and assembled to create a sinogram, which is computationally back-projected to build the tomogram.
