Example of total electron yield measurements at the GPES. The near-edge absorption fine structure of the solid Co₂O₃ and Fe₃O₄ samples in the photon energy range 700–810 eV is presented. For Co₂O₃, arrows indicate the several minor spectrally resolved components in the Co³⁺ 2p3d octahedral ligand field multiplet.
