(a) Experimental setup for the PES measurement and an overview image of the naturally grown a-TiO2 single crystal. (b) Spatial distribution of the spectral intensity around Ti 2p region on the (101) surface taken at room temperature with a photon energy of 753 eV. The scan range indicated by the red rectangle in panel (a) was set to 5 mm and 6.4 mm for the Y′ and Z axes, respectively, and the scan interval was set to 0.2 mm. A total of 858 data points were mapped out with an acquisition time of 55 min. (c) Survey PES spectra at the portions indicated by the circles in panel (b). All spectra were recorded at room temperature using a photon energy of 753 eV (LHR).
