Saturation and self-absorption effects in the angle-dependent 2p3d resonant inelastic X-ray scattering spectra of Co3+

The self-absorption-added coefficients { $[1/[\mu(\omega_{\rm{in}})+\mu(\omega_{\rm{out}})(\sin\alpha/\sin\beta)]]$ } as a function of rotation angle and emitted photon energy loss for a low-spin Co³⁺ ¹A_1g(O_h) ground state, where α + β = 140°. The absorption factor μ is plotted in the inset. It indicates also the conditions of case (ii) μ(ω_in) ≫ μ(ω_out) and case (iii) μ(ω_in) ≃ μ(ω_out). We note that the absorption factor has been normalized to the maximum and the self-absorption-added coefficients have been normalized to the maximum of the region of interest.
