Impact of JPEG-2000 compressions at levels 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 500, and 1000 on a typical weak reflection in HIV reverse transcriptase, first boosted and protected by binning and summing by factors of 2. Three rows through the boosted reflection were averaged. The BIN2_SUM2_J2K25, 50, 100, 150, 200, and 500 all preserve the basic shape of the weak reflection with some weakening that preserves the peak but distorts the shoulders asymmetrically. The J2K500 compression severely distorts the profile, while J2K1000 and J2K2000 swallow the weak reflection completely.
