Schematic of a typical configuration of the segmented undulator. Three phase shifters (PS1, PS2 and PS3) are installed in between four APPLE-II segments (ID1, ID2, ID3 and ID4). Each phase shifter controls relative phase (ϕ₁, ϕ₂ and ϕ₃) of adjacent segments. (a) LCP and RCP modes are alternately aligned (LR-mode). (b) VLP and HLP modes are alternately aligned (VH-mode).
