I(x = r, y = 0, z = f, t) = ψ*ψ from equation (7) evaluated at the focus for an initial 200 as Gaussian pulse with f = 3 m. (a, b) E0 = 12 keV and σr = 321 µm; (c, d) E0 = 10 keV and σr = 313 µm; (e, f) E0 = 8 keV and σr = 290 µm. The values in (b), (d) and (f) are elevated by the summand 10−10 to enable a good logarithmic representation. Note that the pulse stretching effect gets weaker for smaller σr.
