Detailed view of the `inside' geometry. By moving the sample inside the Rowland circle its projected size [W_{\rm{S}}^\prime] on the circumference of the circle is increased and a larger energy range is observable. For reliable results it is important that the whole spot size contributes to all wavelengths of the observed energy region.
