The empty glass capillary is not strictly identical to the capillary containing the diamond powder. Subtracting the Compton scattering from diamond (black curve) from the glass + powder data, where the Bragg peaks at around 5.8° and 9.3° have been masked, yields a curve which in shape is identical to the red empty glass curve but due to the different glass differs by a factor of 1.020.
