The structure of a photoluminescent molybdosamarate, Sm2(H2O)12[Mo8O27].6H2O, is described. The Sm atom has tricapped trigonal prismatic coordination geometry.

The structure of dicaesium digallium diorthoborate oxide constitutes a new type of oxide borate. The Cs atoms occupy large cavities within a three-dimensional gallium–oxide–orthoborate lattice.

Neodymium-doped Sr5(PO4)3F and Sr5(VO4)3F crystallize in the space group P63/m. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction is used to show that while both structures contain two different Sr sites, Nd is present at only one site in (Sr,Nd)5(PO4)3F, but present at both sites in (Sr,Nd)5(VO4)3F.

NiV2O6.H2O, obtained by hydrothermal synthesis, adopts a structure which consists of infinite chains of [VO4] tetrahedra connected by isolated [Ni2O8(H2O)2] dimeric entities.

In Cu-bearing tourmaline, the octahedrally coordinated Z site is completely occupied by Al, the octahedrally coordinated Y site is occupied primarily by Li and Al, and the nine-coordinate X site is approximately half-occupied by Na.
