Highlighted illustration

Cover illustration: A view of the molecule of dichloro(isopropylamido)bis(isopropylamine)(isopropylimido)tantalum(V), with ellipsoids drawn at the 30% probability level. Methyl-H atoms have been omitted for clarity and only one of the two possible orientations of the disordered isopropyl groups is shown. See Burland, Meyer & Geib [Acta Cryst. (2003), C59, m46-m48].

The structure of the new compound Li15Al3Si6 is described as consisting of interpenetrating anionic and cationic lattices, namely a graphite-like Li3Al3Si6 layer and a distorted diamond-like lithium lattice.

Two members of the solid-solution series Ba1−xAl2−2xSi2+2xO8, with x = 0.20 or 0.06, have been synthesized and are shown to have the celsian structure, but with Ba deficiency.

The crystal structure of LaTiO3.41 consists of (110) perovskite-type slabs with a width of five TiO6 octahedra, which are separated by additional oxygen layers. A superstructure is observed in the [100] direction.

NaCa4Nb5O17 belongs to the AnBnO3n+2 family. The structure consists of perovskite-related blocks of distorted NbO6 octahedral layers. Na atoms partially replace Ca inside the blocks, but not in the cavities between blocks.

Special and virtual issues

Acta Crystallographica Section C is planning special issues on

The Structural Chemistry of Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysts

NMR Crystallography.

Full details are available on the special issues page.

The latest virtual issue, featuring Coordination polymers and with an introduction by Len Barbour, was published in July 2014.

What are the 'most read' articles from the recent special issues?
