Reconsideration of the P-clusters in VFe proteins using the bond-valence method: towards their electron transfer and protonation

The oxidation of P^N clusters to P¹⁺/P²⁺ clusters corresponds to coordination by the hydroxyl group of serine and the amide group of cysteine without electron and proton transfers.
