ORCID policy

What is ORCID?
ORCID is a non-profit organization established by an international collaboration of publishers, researchers, research institutions and funders that provides researchers with a unique and persistent digital identifier. These identifiers can be used to identify individuals reliably thereby reducing the risk of confusing your identity with another researcher with the same name.
How can I get an ORCID iD?
If you do not currently have an ORCID iD, you will be required to register:
- Registration is free at https://www.orcid.org/register and takes a matter of seconds.
- You register only once and can use your ORCID iD permanently.
ORCID at IUCr Journals
For IUCr Journals, all authors are strongly encouraged to provide an ORCiD iD during submission:
- You can authenticate your ORCID iD in our manuscript submission system.
- Sharing your ORCID record will help improve the discoverability of your research and support collaboration within the research community.
ORCID-enabled functionality
Your ORCID iD will be displayed in the web version of your published article. It will be linked to the ORCID website to allow your ORCID profile and list of publications to be viewed. ORCID identifiers are also sent to third parties such as Crossref in XML data feeds.
