We are planning to relaunch Acta Crystallographica Section E next year to regain coverage by the Science Citation Index. The journal is considering changing its main publication categories to Research Communications and Data Reports.

Data Reports article

Research Communications would be longer than current short articles, with more discussion of the science, and the publication of related structures in a single article would be encouraged. The published Research Communications would include at least one figure per structure, an ellipsoid plot being required for each molecular species. An example Research Communications article can be downloaded here.

Data Reports would be based on the current Inorganic, Metal-organic and Organic compounds formats. An example Data Reports article can be downloaded here.

The intention would be that Research Communications are covered by the Science Citation Index and Data Reports by the Data Citation Index.
