Cover illustration: New kinds of defects can appear in crystals where the atoms and unit cell sit on the nodes of -modules, i.e. on three-dimensional projections of N-dimensional lattices. The defects result from symmetry breaking due to the projection of the structure from N to three dimensions [Sirindil et al. (2017). Acta Cryst. A73, 427-437]. A four-dimensional scalar dislocation in a two-dimensional periodic tiling is shown.
