A PbII coordination polymer was prepared under solvothermal synthetic conditions using the bifunctional ligand 4,4′-(1H,1′H-[2,2′-biimidazole]-1,1′-diyl)dibenzoic acid and Pb(NO3)2. A two-dimensional (2D) coordination network is formed. The central PbII ions adopt distorted octahedral geometries, which are bound by the bifunctional ligand. Furthermore, the 2D coordination layers are assembled into a 3D supramolecular network through hydrogen-bonding interactions. In addition, a fluorescence sensing experiment towards Cu2+ based on the polymeric PbII complex was carried out.

In two 3-(dihydroxyboryl)anilinium salts, the almost planar boronic acid molecules are linked by pairs of O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming centrosymmetric motifs that can be described by the graph-set R22(8) motif. In both structures, the packing is stabilized by weak boron–π interactions, as shown by noncovalent interactions (NCI) index calculations.

The aliphatic dipeptide alanine–isoleucine (Ala–Ile), protected with a benzyloxycarbonyl (Z) group at the N-terminus, forms hollow microtubes with orthorhombic symmetry upon evaporation on glass surfaces, as shown by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). These findings provide an increased understanding of the correlation between the single-crystal structure of the peptide building block and its self-assembly mechanism, and expand the library of available building blocks for microtechnological applications.

Three new 2,6-disubstituted thiosemicarbazone derivatives of pyridine have been synthesized and characterized, and their antibacterial and anti-yeast activities have been determined. The ability of the tested compounds to inhibit bacterial growth was comparable to vancomycin as a reference drug. All three compounds adopt the zwitterionic form in the crystal structure regardless of the presence or absence of solvent molecules.

The title benzimidazole compounds were synthesized by the condensation reaction of benzene-1,2-diamine with 4-methoxynaphthalene-1-carbaldehyde in the ratios 1:1 and 1:2, respectively. Both compounds exhibit significant anticorrosion properties with respect to iron and copper.
