Cover illustration: Solid-state reactions at normal and at high pressures are used to produce antimonates with composition M2InSbO6, where M is a divalent first-row transition metal. These materials have a corundum-related structure and display interesting magnetic behavior. Since they are usually obtained as powders, different synthesis methods have been attempted to produce single crystals. Wolflehner & Weil [Acta Cryst. (2026). E82, 1338–1341] attempted the synthesis of Co2InSbO6 by chemical vapor transport, a method that had successfully been used to obtain single crystals of Ni2InSbO6. However, reaction with the silica glass of the reaction ampoule, produced the unexpected compound pentacobalt(II) triindium(III) antimony(V) disilicon(VI) hexadecaoxide, Co5In3SbSi2O16.
