Cover illustration: The salt [K(C18H36N2O6)][Co(CO)4] is a carbonylmetalate and contains cobalt in oxidation state of -I. The K+ cation is fully enclosed in the (2.2.2-cryptand) and shows no notable interaction with the anion. The tetrahedral [Co(CO)4]-nit exhibits a mean Co-C bond length of 1.766 (4) Å and is only slightly distorted from the ideal geometry, with C-Co-C angles ranging from 107.94 (13) to 110.86 (13)°.
