Cover illustration: Butadiene complexes of transition metals are model systems that allow a deeper understanding of the bonding situation between transition metal atoms and olefins that play an important role e.g. in photochemical ligand-exchange reactions or in catalysis. The coordination environment of the Cr(0) atom in the title compound, ([eta]4-s-cis-1,3-butadiene)tetracarbonylchromium(0), is best described as distorted octahedral formed by four carbonyl ligands and the [pi] electrons of the s-cis-1,3-butadiene ligand.
